26th June – 7th July 2019
There aren’t many places in the world where you can go whitewater rafting in a remote canyon and a few days later be scuba diving a sunken shipwreck in the Mediterranean Sea. Plus this is all within only three hours' travel from the UK!
We have arranged this action-packed, adrenaline-filled holiday with some very special locations. With over 20 years of adventure travel, Alexander Adventures has offered “once-in-a-lifetime" trips to nearly every region of the world.
WHITE WATER RAFTING
RAFT THE WORLD’S 2ND DEEPEST CANYON. The Grand Canyon is a mere 200m deeper than Montenegro's Tara River Gorge, so board your raft and experience this from the water! Take on wild rapids; go with the flow through calm pools; and pitch up next to beautiful waterfalls.
We only use the best. Alexander Adventures has one of the most experienced scuba dive guilds, so you are always in safe hands. During our trip to Montenegro, we partner with a local 5* accredited PADI (Professional Association of Dive Instructors) centre to provide safe, professional and fun courses to our guests. You will have the option to earn your Open Water or Advanced Open Water scuba diving award or just take part in some astonishing dives - all with expert supervision/instruction.
A PLACE TO STAY
We carefully select the very best accommodations to give you a special experience of the country, the culture and the people in each of our destinations. Montenegro is no exception! In the Tara Gorge (rafting), we have a stunning riverside location, which severely lessens unnecessary driving time. Each evening you can sit with a beer next to the river you just rafted!
During our stay, food (and there is lots of it) will be provided as indicated below. You will just need to buy any alcoholic drinks (so cheap!). The accommodation options comprise of twin and double cabins with en-suites.
DAY TO DAY
26th June, Day One – Arrive at Tivat airport in the morning. One of the team will meet you, and we will travel though the mountains to the Tara River. We'll settle into the river camp and have a late lunch before a safety briefing from one of our whitewater guides. The rest of the afternoon you can chill by the river, relax in the sun and take in the stunning views. In the evening we will have a three-course meal provided by a local chef. You will not be left hungry! Then enjoy the evening with a few drinks around the fire.
27th June, Day Two – After a full breakfast, we gather our rafting equipment and enter the river at our own beach. Today we will pass though some remarkable locations and big rapids with help and guidance from our experienced guides. The river trip ends at the border of Montenegro and Bosnia, where we meet our drivers for the journey back to our river camp for a shower and a late hot lunch. The rest of the afternoon you can relax in the sun.
28th June, Day Three – Now it gets interesting! After enjoying a big breakfast and squeezing into our rafting equipment, we take the 4x4s upriver to the get-in. After a few easygoing rapids, we soon approach some big rapids. Today will be full of adrenaline and action; you are sure to end the trip with a massive smile and lots of memories of the Tara River. Once back at our river camp, enjoy your well-deserved shower and lunch before setting up for our river party: this is a worldwide tradition to celebrate a fantastic trip. After a massive evening meal, we get the opportunity to taste some of Montenegro’s finest spirits and chat about the last few days on the Tara River.
29th June, Day Four – After breakfast we pack up and head through the mountains to part two of the adventure. On the way we will stop at some truly remote and stunning villages for a coffee and photo opportunities before arriving at the coast. In the afternoon we check into our coast base for the next few days of scuba diving. Breakfast and the evening meal are provided.
30th June, Day Five – Today you meet the scuba diving team and get ready to start your first steps to becoming a qualified scuba diver. If you are already qualified, you will be out on the boat with one of our dive guides. Breakfast only provided.
1st July, Day Six – Carrying on from the previous day, you will continue your scuba-diving course. Breakfast only provided.
2nd July, Day Seven – By now you are on track to be a fully qualified scuba diver. We will all be out on the boat for an action-packed day of improving skills and spending some quality time with the local marine life. Breakfast only provided.
3rd July, Day Eight – Today you will finish your scuba course and prepare to become a qualified scuba diver with the world’s largest scuba course provider. Breakfast only provided.
4th July, Day Nine – After all that hard work, we will have a day in the Old Town, taking in the sights of the citadel while perusing local cafes and traditional shops. Breakfast only provided.
5th July, Day Ten – Now that we are all qualified divers, we head out to sea to dive one of the local shipwrecks under the guidance of our qualified scuba team. We will take a number of underwater video and still cameras to capture this unique opportunity to explore the real history of the deep. Tonight is Friday night, and Montenegro has some spectacular night life! After a meal in town, you are more than welcome to stay out until the early hours and party like a local. Breakfast only provided.
6th July, Day Eleven – A well-deserved rest day (and we need a no-dive day before our flight).
